Instructions for Nether Portal and 3D Distance Calculators

How to Use the Nether Portal Calculator

  • Build the Portal Frame: In the Overworld, build the Nether portal frame at your desired spot, but don’t light it up just yet.
  • Find Your Coordinates: Step into the portal frame and press F3 to see the coordinates (X, Y, Z). Don’t forget to note which direction you’re facing when entering the portal!
  • Enter Coordinates in the Calculator: Take the X, Y, Z coordinates from Step 2 and input them into the “Overworld coords” section of the Nether Portal Calculator.
  • See the Nether Coordinates: Once you input your Overworld coordinates, the Nether coordinates will automatically appear in the “Nether coords” section.
  • Finish Building the Portal: Light the portal in the Overworld and step through to the Nether. Then, go to the Nether coordinates the calculator gave you.
  • Build Your Nether Portal: Replace the block you’re standing on with obsidian, face the same direction as in the F3 screen, and add obsidian blocks to finish the base of the portal. Light the portal in the Nether.
  • Remove the Old Portal: After using your new portal, go back to the first Nether portal and destroy it or disable it.
  • Return to the Overworld: Head back to the Overworld through your newly created Nether portal.

Important Notes:

  • Portal Linking: You can link as many portals as you need, but make sure they’re aligned properly. Portals should be within a 1024 block radius (Overworld) or 128 block radius (Nether) to avoid linking issues.
  • 3D Distance Calculation: The 3D distance is calculated using the Pythagorean theorem. The distance will update in real-time as you enter new coordinates into the calculator.
  • Height Matters: Be mindful of height (Y) when building portals near the build limit in the Overworld. In the Nether, your portal might end up near the ceiling.
  • Precise Linkage: When copying coordinates from the F3 screen, make sure to round down the numbers and ignore any decimals.
  • Extra Tool: Use the 3D Distance Calculator to accurately measure the distance between Nether portals in both the Overworld and the Nether.

How to Use the 3D Distance Calculator

  • Enter Coordinates for Location 1: In the "Location 1" section, input the X, Y, Z coordinates for the first place you want to measure.
  • Enter Coordinates for Location 2: Now, do the same in the "Location 2" section for the second location.
  • Check the Distance: The distance between the two spots will be automatically calculated and shown under the "Distance" section. It updates as you enter the coordinates.
  • Reset the Calculator: Want to start over? Just click the "Reset" button to clear everything and set the values back to zero.

Additional Notes:

  • Instant Calculation: The calculator updates the distance as soon as you input new coordinates for both locations.
  • 3D Distance Formula: The 3D distance is calculated using the Pythagorean theorem considering the X, Y, Z values as 3D space coordinates.
  • Fully Responsive: The calculator is designed to work seamlessly across all screen sizes—desktop, tablet, and mobile.
